where is maggie? ---White water rafting in Nile river in Uganda

I have been in jinja in Uganda for 3 days, I met two Chinese doctors in a supermarket in the downtown, they are from YUNNAN province, have been here 2 months, will stay here for 2 years, total 8 team members, they work in JINJA hospital, this project has lasted 30 years, it is so nice to meet them here, I wasvited to their house, talked a lot with them, of course had the Chinese food, it is really good, they planted some green vegetables in the countyard, I also helped them to do some works for the planting, so frindly to meet them.

Yesterday I took the whole day rafting in Nile river, it is really amazing, before I booked the rafting, some friends told me it is not suitable for Chinese people, dangerous and horrible, but I think I will try, if I am really scared, I will stop it, so even I am a little bit nervous, I booked it, when the guide taught us how to handle it if the boat turn over, we practiced it, I did not grasp the rope beside the boat,   so just stayed under the boat, it is ok, because there are empty space to breathe, the others help me to come out, when we are rafting formally, we turned over twice, the first time I grasped the rope, but the second time I did not, because it is the biggest rapids of this rafting, grade 5, worst than the others grade 5, so quickly I fell over, the water is really hurry and strong, you can do nothing under the water, I just held my breath, of course drank some water, quickly the water pushed me up, I can breathe again, when the big waves came again, just held the breath. The lifecoat is really helpful, when I was floating on the water, the security guy came quickly, I just need to grasp the rope of his small boat, then he took me back to the big boat.

Exactly when you are under the water, you will be scared, totally out of control, but not so horrible, because the lifecoat will help you come up quickly, you just need to calm down, do not struggle with the water, you will be exhausted if you do like that, I did not have the feel of be dying, I insisted I will be survived. A Chinese solider who work here also took the rafting before, he told me when he is rafting, there are a feel of dying, it is ok I feel, it is true if you do rafting, you need stong enough otherwise you can not grasp the rope, you definitely will be out the boat and fell under the water.

In our boat, have 5 team members, 3 female and 2 male, also had a black guide,  after we turned over, they always can not find me, just asked each other "where is maggie", then a few seconds later, I just said I am here and I am fine. They  encouraged me a lot, because when I finished the morning rafting total 7 rapids, I am totally exhausted because every people in the boat need to drive it by your peddel, need a lot of strength, so I just thought maybe it is enough for me, 7 rapids including the worst one among 5 grade, I knew if turned over again, I also had no enough strength to hold the rope, so I told the guide I will quit, I enjoyed it very much, the guide told me we will have 4 rapids in the afternoon, better than in the morning, the others also encouraged me, they said you can stay in the boat and no drive, I said it is not good, I will not affect the others, it is just a experience for me, then finally I stayed, and finished all 11 rapids, thanks for god, the last grade 5 rapids we did not turn over again, it is reall good, otherwise the people will ask again "where is maggie?", it is really shamed.

One more experience unforgetable, nice trip and safe journey always.

    Kenya

From Sep.4th, I have been in Kenya for 12 days, so busy that I have not time to surf the internet, but I am really happy, Kenya is very colorful and different, I took a safari to Nakuru and MasaiMara for 4 days(cost me US$390, good camping with hot water shower and toliet and delicous food), actually we had to spend some time for transportation even though the agency  picked us up because there are some distance between two national parks, full day safari was very exciting but I felt a little bit tired at the end because the road in National Park is so bad. We saw the lions, elephants etc big five animals and also have so many baboons, we even met the two lions had sex together in the morning, it is really funny, and there are several toyota minivans just surrounding them, the grassland in Kenya is really beautiful and huge, I always remember the landscape in ALI in Tibet, they are same same but different of course.

After safari, I came back to Nairobi, then went to LAMU old town near to Indian Ocean, it is really far from Nairobi, I took the bus to Mambasa firstly for 8 hours, stayed there one night together with an old UK ladies backpacker whose age is 67 !!!(even older than my daddy), then the next day I went to Lamu by myself, it took me 6 hours by bus, I met two UK girls on schedule there because we were in one safari group and built good relationship and they invited me to Lamu firstly instead of firstly going to Uganda, they flied to Lamu. so I changed the order. Everything is fine until  I had a sleep on the beach after swimming, I did not expect the sunshine is so strong and made not good enough preparation for sunblock,  I got sunburn after the whole day of staying in SHELLA beach, the next day I just found my shoulder and my leg become the HUOTUI, so red and so painful, it is really terrible, then I just went out to find the lotion after sun, got NIVEA( everywhere is NIVEA) and another one lotion in the chemist shop, then I used it, now better than before, just need time to recovery. We also took a dhow trip to catch some fishes and swimming and lie down on the beautiful beach, but this time I wore my T-shirt and pants just in case.I am really enjoy the time in Lamu, no cars in the island, only donkeys and bicyles, people are really relax there, even it is ramadan there but can be easy to find some food.

Now after Lamu life for 4 days I came back to Nairobi this morning by night train from Mambasa, met some tourists in the train.and have fun.
today it is so relax, just walk around on the street, drink some kenya coffe and come into the cafenet to write somethings. tomorrow morning I will go to Uganda at 7AM by bus, it will take me 12 hours, I have used to the long bus journey, fortunately the views on the way is good, the bad things is the body smell of local people, it is really horrible, I always took my rose flavour solid perfume on my nose, it works definitely.

Travel alone in Kenya is easier than in Iran, the language here is English, also have many tourists to meet, can share informations and travel together sometimes. It is my third time in Nairobi, first time just flied from Tehran, stayed in a small guest house with many local people, really like in the africa movie, it seems it is dangerous but the people are so different looking and worth to watch, it is near the bus station. The second time is after safari, I went to Milimani backpacker hostel recommended by two UK girls and found so many backpackers, they gave me a lot of information about LAMU, there I also met a Chinese-American boy but he can not speak Chinese, only English. This time I stayed in a down town hotel, very clean, and recommended by the boy from Germany, he works in Mambasa for six months as a volunters.

Write so long words, I really hope to speak Chinese and eat Chinese food, it will be soon coming.

Safe journey! The people always say it to me, be sure!
